Functional Testing

Understanding your health often requires looking beyond individual symptoms.

Comprehensive functional pathology testing and personalised naturopathic healthcare.

As a Naturopath, Nutritionist and trained Functional Medicine Practitioner, I take a comprehensive, investigative approach to healthcare, combining clinical assessment, nutritional science and specialised pathology testing where appropriate.

I offer access to over 180 specialised pathology tests, working with trusted functional health laboratories in Australia and the United States.

Areas of Functional Testing

Gut Health & Microbiome Testing

Specialised stool testing and digestive investigations may provide insights into gastrointestinal health.

Depending on the test, assessments may include:

  • Gut microbiome composition and bacterial diversity

  • Selected pathogenic bacteria and parasites

  • Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) testing

  • Digestive markers, including pancreatic elastase

  • Intestinal inflammation markers, such as faecal calprotectin

  • Short-chain fatty acids, including butyrate, acetate and propionate

  • Bile acid metabolism and related digestive concerns

Hormonal Health – Men & Women

Hormonal investigations may be considered for concerns such as fatigue, menstrual irregularities, menopausal symptoms, reduced libido and changes in body composition.

Testing may include:

  • Testosterone and other androgen markers

  • Oestrogen and progesterone, when clinically indicated

  • Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG)

  • Selected adrenal and cortisol assessments

  • Thyroid function

Fertility & Reproductive Health

Testing may include:

  • Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)

  • Free thyroid hormones, where indicated

  • Thyroid antibodies

  • Selected inflammatory and autoimmune markers

  • Nutritional factors relevant to thyroid function

Nutritional Deficiencies & Metabolic Health

Nutritional and metabolic investigations can help identify deficiencies and relevant risk factors.

Testing may include:

  • Iron studies and ferritin

  • Vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D

  • Selected minerals and trace elements

  • Blood glucose and HbA1c

  • Lipid profile and metabolic markers

  • Homocysteine

Genetics, MTHFR & Methylation

Genetic testing may identify variations in genes involved in nutrient metabolism and other biological pathways.

Depending on the clinical context, testing may explore MTHFR and other genetic variants.

Stress, Cortisol & Fatigue

Persistent fatigue and stress-related symptoms can have multiple causes, including sleep disturbance, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid disease, medication effects and other medical conditions.

Appropriate assessment may include selected blood investigations and, where clinically indicated, validated cortisol testing.

Food Intolerances & Digestive Sensitivities

Digestive symptoms following certain foods may require investigation for coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, allergies or other gastrointestinal conditions.
